      Book excerpt

Paka sits at his desk drinking a cup of the coffee that he so proudly calls his own.  A report came that the coffee fields are meeting maximum harvest.

“Paka, there is someone here to see you,” Romelle says.  Romelle is a crop manager at the coffee fields.  He and Paka attended college together and participated in many of the forums.

      “Well who is it Ro?”

“He says his name is Nmubutu Gayer.  He is with the Nosutu.”

A look of interest comes upon Paka.

      “Please invite our friend in.”

Nmubutu Gayer enters wearing tribal garbs that befit someone of high rank.

“Ah, Paka Lesuni, it is good to finally meet you.  I have heard so much about your contributions to the land and how much you have invested to restore Mirobi’s economy with your coffee crops.”

“It is good to meet you as well minister.  To what do I owe this visit?”  Paka replies.

“It would do you good to know that the tribal elders are seeking a younger group to lead our efforts to push for social and ecological fellowships.  We are endeavoring to bring the tribesmen back and focus on the future of the land.  Our base is somewhat weakening with the governments influence.  However we are developing a counsel to address such issues as well as bring more attention to the region.  I am coming to you in hopes to help in this effort.  I am offering you a place on the counsel as a lieutenant.”

Paka looks upon Nmubutu Gayer with wonderment as to why he would seek him out for such a position.  He ponders for a moment.

“I am sorry that I have to turn down your offer.  These are all political to me and I do not deal in politics.  I am focused on this,” Paka points to his coffee fields and the people that are working in them.

“This is my focus Nmubutu Gayer.  I am sorry.”

“Do not be sorry my young friend.  Mirobi will go on as you and I will.  I know there are good things happening within you and have no doubt that you have a great spirit from the greatness that you have provided in this land.”

“That is a compliment that is very much appreciated.  I hope you understand.”

“Indeed I do, you have done much to rekindle hope in our people.  It is alright to keep in touch with you no?”

“I would be grateful to be your friend and hopefully over time a confidant.”

“It would be good.  You have a well day Paka Lesuni.”

“And you as well Nmubutu Gayer.”

The book is full of energy and an escalating story line.

Hope you have enjoyed your visit.
